There, Laszlo, Freyda's ally attacks the Dwarves while Freyda is at council with them. Freyda is tasked to retrieve the young prince "Andrei", and is sent on a chase to the home of the Dwarves, Tor-Hrall. Fryeda, the daughter of Godric, is sent of to stop "rebels" as Queen Isabel calls them. Queen Isabel has returned to her empire, but the people speak of a changed queen, not the same one that went to Sheogh. The story continues some time after the story in Heroes of Might and Magic V. Finally, the Renegades - a sub-faction composed of seven non-recruitable creature types - were added, featuring prominently in the storyline. Caravans (originally seen in Heroes of Might and Magic IV), simultaneous turns in the multiplayer mode and a random map generator were also supplied. Fourteen new artifacts, three new creatures and additional campaign heroes were included, as well as the long-anticipated map and campaign editor which was not present in the base game (though was added in a downloadable patch). Three new campaigns, continuing the original game's storyline, were added, along with a selection of standalone scenarios. The most notable content included was the addition of the new Fortress faction, composed of Dwarves, with exclusive access to runic magic (which requires resources instead of mana for casting). The expansion pack featured numerous improvements over the base game. Like the original game, it was developed by Nival Interactive, under the guidance of Ubisoft. Heroes of Might and Magic V: Hammers of Fate is the first expansion pack to the turn-based strategy game Heroes of Might and Magic V.
